When I asked my daughter who she would include in ‘Passionate Women’ she emphatically said – TAYLOR SWIFT – not just for being a global music phenomenon, but also for her philanthropy and the remarkable effect she has had on both popular culture and the World’s economy.
The record-breaking ERAS tour has spanned six continents and allowed millions to see an empowered, young woman sing about the things that really matter to them. She fights for equality, women, education, the LGBTQIA community, the victims of cancer and sexual abuse. She makes amazing music, but to fans she is just an ordinary girl with dreams and that makes her accessible.
Taylor loves her guitars, so this seemed the most fitting tribute – a version of the iconic ‘Living Jewels’ guitar, created by Pete Davies Jr. She first used the guitar around 2011/12 on the ‘Speak Now’ Tour and it’s been on the road again during ERAS. My version does not have inlaid wood – instead it has painted, machine and hand embroidered fish and a hand stitched strap containing the names of every album.
