Meet the Makers

Sarah Maddison is a Hampshire based textile artist. She is inspired by landscapes and the emotions they provoke. From a wild, rocky coastline, to a newly ploughed field; from the most modern of cities to our ancient landscapes, with their standing stones, circles and forts, they tell a story. Sarah sells her work through exhibitions and commissions and leads creative workshops.
Anne Hellyer is a Hampshire artist who creates hand-painted textile art by combining her love of paint and textiles with free machine embroidery. Anne regularly takes part in craft shows, gives talks and demonstrations and leads workshops.

Mandy Dunning takes inspiration from her cottage garden and the beautiful Hampshire countryside she lives amongst. This is reflected in her textile work using free machine embroidery and mixed media techniques.

Dee McElligott Dee dabbles!Loves anything to do with textiles - fabric, threads, fleece, yarn so she flits from spinning and weaving to sewing, mainly by hand, and knitting. Texture and colour are what really attract. Strangely for such a dabbler, she appears to have developed an obsession with French knots!
Alison Young has always been interested in textiles from when she first made clothes for her two daughters when they were small. She progressed to textile work and completed the City & Guilds Part I Embroidery course in 1991.

Alison also makes patchwork quilts, which satisfies her need to produce accurate pieces. The free-range textile works she produces still tend to be 'neat', a trait she intends to break in future projects!
Janice Ballard
Janice has been stitching since the early 1960s making clothes for her dolls. After graduating onto making her own and sisters' clothes, she discovered the joys of 'needlework'. This has morphed into a love of any and everything textile. A 'Janice of all trades and Master of none'. Influences and loves are natural patterns, texture, prehistory.
Sarah Davis lives in a village on the Hampshire-Wiltshire border. She is a lifelong embroiderer and knitter and enjoys learning and experimenting with different techniques.
