Sarah Davis lives in a village on the Hampshire-Wiltshire border. She is a lifelong embroiderer and knitter and enjoys learning and experimenting with different styles and techniques. She is inspired by ancient landscapes, heritage, art and culture as well as the rich folk history of the British Isles.
For the exhibition at Sir Harold Hiller Gardens, which is just over a week away, (21st July-2nd August), Sarah has explored the symbolism of nature used by Shakespeare in Hamlet when he uses flowers as a powerful and poignant metaphor for Ophelia’s tradegy. She also takes the theme of pollution of the seas to create beautiful fish using un-recyclable materials.
For the sales table, Sarah has produced a series of handstiched and free machine-embroidered brooches representing the natural world as featured in our Goddess series.
